Default Issues with Remote

hi there

I am using Reason 4 with an Edirol pcr30 midi keyboard...this keyboard is probably at least 5 years old. I have the latest drivers installed, as well as the Edirol PCR Editor which allows programming of the sliders, etc.

I know that i can do Remote Override by right-clicking and assigning my knobs and sliders to a parameter on a Reason device.
However, this is then set for that device in that song, and is not save-able across songs/projects, etc.

I also know that my keyboard has 16 preset memory sets for the controllers. According to the Reason documentation and my keyboard documentation I should be able to save my own assignments to these presets. ie- set up a template for the Subtractor, one for Thor, etc., and then load them as I wish...

I cannot seem to be able to get my keyboard to do this...I have tried by making changes in Reason with Remote Override and then saving, I have tried using the Edirol PCR Editor and saving, I have tried by manually setting each control knob/slider by assigning its midi channel/cc#,etc and saving...

The only memory sets that I even get any transmission on are numbers 0,1 and 4...? I can make assignments but none will save to a memory set...

Anyway, I am wondering if anyone can tell me if maybe my keyboard is old enough that it is not fully supported in Reason for what I want to do, or if I am missing something in my attempts.

peace

First of all: It's correct, that remot overrides in reason are only saved for exact the one device, where you set it up. If you want to use your controller for different subtractors/thors etc., you need to set up the right default controller numbers in your keyboard and not use remote overrides. In the Reason manual you will find tables, which contain all default controller numbers for all functions of the Reason devices. So you should be able to set up presets for all kinds of Reason devices in your keyboard. I cannot tell you, how it's done with YOUR keyboard, because I have another one. But I am sure, it should be possible with it.

thanks for the reply igoa

yeah, i have tried to set up presets using the controller numbers from the reason documentation, and following the instructions for my keyboard...but for some reason these presets will not save ( i have tried all 16 preset banks on my controller), and in many cases i can re-assign some functions using the controller numbers, while in other cases the functions will simply not re-assign to any knob on any midi channel..odd
i have decided that there must be some issue with the age of my keyboard...i have even restored all factory presets on the controller and started from scratch; no help
i guess i will research to find out which controllers people are having success with and get a new one

peace
