Default Reason 4 Rewire incompatible with songs from Cubase SX 3?

I am using Reason v4 with Cubase 4 without problem, having recently upgraded from Reason 2 and Cubase SX3.

However, I want to work on some songs started with Cubase SX3 and Reason 2 and have run into problems. In the easiest-to-describe situation, if I start Cubase 4, then the Cubase-SX3-saved song and then try to start Reason, Reason stalls while loading and says "check host rewire".

Or, to give another example, I start Cubase 4, then Reason 4, which loads without problem, then load Cubase-SX3-saved song, then Reason patch made previously in Reason 2. In this situation, there is no communication between Cubase 4 and Reason 4. Buttons on Cubase 4 Rewire panel are extremely slow (spinning-disk). If I try to close Reason patch, Reason stops responding and I have to force-quit it. Cubase then can't be quit as it thinks Reason is still open and I have to force-quit it too. I can't open Reason again without force-quitting Cubase because it thinks it is already open!

If I simply load Cubase 4, then Reason and patch made previously in Reason 2 , then make a new song in Cubase 4, there is no problem playing the Reason 2 patch. However, loading the Cubase-SX3-saved song then trying to make a new Reason 4 patch won't work, as there is no communication with Reason even without previous reason 2 patch.

I realize the problem might be said to be with Cubase, but the two are supposed to work together. Anyone else encounter similar and have any work-arounds or solutions?

Hmm that's very strange, never had problems with this as I'm a ableton live and reason user.

Well if those cubase sx3 songs are near finished and you're just trying to add a little more with reason, one solution could be to track out your songs to individual .wav files and import it into a cubase 4 session. Then rewire. Not a very ideal solution, but still a solution. Wish I could help you more but I just dont know anything about the bugs or problems with cubase.

Bit of a pain in the Meekshole. You could post here, but we don't know about Cubase... you could post in a Cube forum but they don't know about Reason.

Unless, of course, someone knows about both...
