Default Is it at all possible to record/sequence on the fly in Reason 4?

And are there any simpler drum machines out there that can be programmed for really long stretches?

I've been trying to figure this out myself, to kind of give Reason a more Ableton Live edge but aside from muting note lanes I can't really think of anything. Would be nice if anyone had any ideas for this that are totally native to Reason

Curses are now replaced by pictures of Gregory Meeks. Think: What would Meeks do?

I'm DYING to find a way to make this easier.

A note-by-note (time value only, sound manipulation would be left as is) , instrument-by-instrument square-plot would be amazing. Like... say... Fruity Loops.

that'd be the ultimate merge. They'd make billions.

Imagine that, new, beautiful unique music everywhere you go, all the time. , we (people) have supported millions of people and hundreds upon thousands of businesses with ANALOG instrumentation alone. Imagine what the concresence/unison of digital technology would be like.

Titancow that's priceless, hahahaha.

But back to the thread's point, it seems to me that you want ableton live (rewired with reason) not reason standalone. Reason is made to be a powerful piece of virtual hardware, and yeah it has a decent sequencer too. Maybe as the program evolves it'll turn into something more, but for now it isn't. Until then we can only hope and dream.

Thank you both for the help. Is this thread a joke to some of you?

No not at all. You just can't swear, it's against the forum rules lol

Really though, I know what you mean, that would be awesome. But then again, that's what rewire's for.

AFTER SITTING HERE ALL AFTERNOON IN VARIOUS FASHION,

(this is like my second day using Reason)

I figured out that what I was asking for was basically a more crude mastering method than the rack/the objects on the rack.

What I want is to be able to work from the Mute Buttons in the Sequencing window. Be able to immediately mute a track, as well as fade it out smoothly and automatically. (I'm sure there's a Keyboard Shortcut for it, but I don't know it. Feel free to help.) And to have those actions be mapped as they are now.

Just to be able to stay in that window would be good too.

Is this even remotely feasible?
