Default Samples for Reason

Hello Board,

My name is Chris and am an trying to dive deep into Reason. I own Reason 3.0. I've trying to expand my sound library. Has anyone heard of any GOOD sound libraries out there for Reason? I've come across a site, esoundz.com , that sells a TON of samples stricly for Reason, but i'm wondering if anyone on here has any experience with them. I'd appreciate all the help i can get!!!

Chris

Hi Chris and welcome!

If you are just starting with Reason, I strongly suggest that you stick with the core sample library for at least a year. The limitations will force your creativity to come out and learn Reason much better.

If you already know Reason well enough, then you might want to consider getting Refill libraries. What kind of sounds are you looking for? Most sites I know usually specialize in certain type of sample banks.

I've been using Reason for about 8 months. I dont kno the in's and outs of it but I know enough to work with it... You can never stop learning... The Factory and Orkester Bank just doesn't do it for me. Yeah they're pretty good samples, but I'm lookin for some orchestral sounds. I saw esoundz has the Miroslav Gold Bundle... but it's $479. I've been readin some other Reason Boards and ppl are lovin the sounds... I dont kno if i should go for that...

I usually produce electronic music, and don't deal with orchestral sounds much. But I happen to have some experience with Sonic Reality Miroslav Refills (vol 2 Choir & vol 3 Percussion and Keys) and I got to admit, the quality is extremely good compared to Orkester bank.

Check eBay, you might find it for cheaper there.

If you search google for free refills, you'll find sites where users made thousands of differnt patches that you can download.

I haven't needed to use anything outside the Factory Sound Bank yet, and I've been using reason for about six months. (I'm a fast learner).

Because with software sound systems (ie Reason) and the unlimited expenditure, you can use devices like Matrix, Scream 4, M-class EQ and stuff like that to change the sound of drums completely.

Factory is everything you need in my opinion. The only reason I've bought other sound banks is because I find that Reason lacks good snare drums.
