Default Recording Instruments using Reason? (Other programs????)

I'm a folk/indie recording artist and I bought Reason as a good production software for my Windows running notebook.

It appears to me now that Reason is only good for drum mapping with a MIDI controller and such things like synthesizing. I didn't know until now that you couldn't record and arrange audio recordings in the sequencer.

I want to know if there is a program I could utilize to record my vocals and live instrument tracks and then add some spice from Reason so I could add MIDI sounds and I hear talk about something called "rewire" but I have no idea what that even means.

I want to use the virtual effect rack of Reason but still be able to EQ the levels of my individual instrument and vocal tracks with the tools provided by Reason.

What you need for this is a DAW program like Sonar, Cubase ect. Then you can "rewire" Reason as a slave to it. Open up your DAW first, then (depending on which DAW your using) open Reason. You'll have to figure how to do this, once again, depending on your DAW program. Reason will open as a slave to your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) either as a stereo bus or individual channels. This is called "rewire." When Reason opens as a stereo bus L/R, you can adjust your settings in Reason and then switch back to your DAW for the audio.

You need to see the tutorial on how to rewire individual channels. It's quite simple. I hope this makes sense. You really do need to watch the tutorial on the Reason basics.

I recommend either Ableton Live or Ableton Logic, they're both great for what you want to do and Live (not sure about Logic) rewires brilliantly with Reason.

Hi,
I 100% recommend Ableton Live. It will do exactly what you want and it is a great piece of software.
Matt.
