Hey SVJB I'm really sorry - I don't want to waste your time or Pi$$ you off - Hopefully googling "Peterjskye" will give you a link that works...

Let me know though - I'm new to this whole internet thing - surprised I managed to get it set up - are there any other spaces you recommend I can stick my music where folks can access without probs like this?

Just wanted some response on my new track called "wish you were here" ...

Its a Ambiënt stylish track , ...

mmm.zshare.net/audio/503980804be15f6c/

*Change the "mmm" into "www"

(Cant post the complete link , cos i dont have more then 10 posts ...)

I do hope you have some comments on this one , i am always searching for improvements ...

I am using Reason 4.01 for my music creations , and have some hardware plugged in as well (2 Keyboards , a BCF2000 and a padKontrol ...) , am not using any other programs ! ( But i do use audacity and Recycle for sampling ...)

I do hope you can give me some directions to work on !

Greetzzzzzzzzzzz and thanks in advance !!!

SCEZ,
Cool stuff! A few comments/critiques

1. You did a nice job of keeping a texture that subtly varied throughout the track.

2. I think certain aspects made this sound a little dated (a big hurdle for a lot of electronic music). For instance the lead synth flute sounded a bit dated and I think its melody was also non essential. Perhaps you should counteract all the legato elements with a high blippy-synth line at that point (just a suggestion)

3. Also the ending was a bit abrupt. I'm all for not drawing out electronic music too much but the piece lends itself to at least a bit more of a fade and maybe hearing that tribal drum line one or two more times after the other instruments have dropped out.

4. Also try playing around with that background white noise phasing sound that you were using. I'm not saying i didn't like it, but I feel like it's something simple to toy with that could really direct the feel of the song.
Also I'm sure that and many of the other elements of the song sound a lot better when they aren't .mp3 compressed so this is a somewhat jaded critique.

Keep up the good work! If you can, upload a full bandwidth file or even a published reason file.

Thansk alot for your fast reply products7074740

I certainly can do something with your comments ! , Like the flute thing indeed , a bit out of date indeed .. (I think ive listend too much Enigma tracks .. lol)

And im gonna work on the end-piece , like i said in my Introduction in the "Welcome Aboard" thread ... sometimes i am strugling with the setup of my tracks ... so i am glad i do have some directions now ...

And i will look at the background "noise" , how youve called it .. , indeed i can bring some variation init ... so thanks for your advise on this one as well !

Greetzzzzzzzzzz and again ... thanks !!!!

Remy aka SCEZ

(PS excuse me for my English usage ... , sometimes its hard to translate sentences straight outa Dutch ...)

Yeah, you should replace the flute with another sample/patch. I liked everything up to the point where the flute came in... Then the strings came in, which really clashed with the song... but I did like the way it attacked. But I think that you should definitely change the patches for the flute and the strings to something that doesn't contrast so much, that works better.

personally i liked it all, including the strings and the flute. I actually thoought the strings were great, they added a nice flare to the song. maybe tone down on the rythym a bit when important stuff comes in, other than that nice job!

Hey - Thanks for trying to check out myspace/peterjskye - I do go by PJ - but this forum aready has a PJ (I use stubbs - an old nickname). I checked with one of my pals on myspace - The music only plays if you have flash player 9 installed apparently - is there a way to attach an MP3 clip directly to this thread?

if you can post the direct link to your song (i.e. the URL ends in .mp3) then that will work just great
