Default No patches in Soundbank folder?

Hello folks,

I'm currently learning reason at tech, and so far have found it a great program. My instructor and I have bought some new refills, but do have a rather annoying problem.

For example, we have just copied the Sonic Refill Vol 20 Mello T sound bank into the reason directory.

Upon opening up reason, the sound bank is visible, with the red logo. Once double clicking on it, everything seems normal, as all the folders are there. Clicking again results in going further into the directory tree. However when we finally come to the folder that contains patches, nothing shows up.

We were initially opening them in the NN-XT component. Thinking we made a mistake, we tried the NN19.

I then did some research, and found that the patches had to be opened in the Combinator Component. Again exactly the same issue. Red logo appears when opening, then the folders appear, then when opening a folder for patches..... absolutely nothing.

This is using a Medion 3.4 GIG computer with Reason 3.0 installed.

Any help would be much appreciated.

They could be samples, as in a wav file. You have to open these with the "Sample" browser in the Redrum, NNXT or NN19.

There's a lot of free refills and underground downloads that you can get too.

Yep, I've tried that, and I get nothing...

Infact what I've also done is go into the browser, and on the top-right corner, there is a box that says, "Show", and I've selected "all instruments".

I'm trying a different one, just to make sure that it is not a currupt sound-bank, and I get the same with the following scenario,

Open QUADRASYNTH STORY REFILL within the browser, then go to the folder KEYBOARDS, then go to the folder "Grand_piano", and again.... you've guessed it.... nothing

Again I've tried opening in the NN-XT, NN19, Rex, Combinator, and as I noted above, went to the upper right corner, selected "all instruments" in the "show" box. and get nothing.

Absolutely bizarre

What file size is the refill?

If you're getting an exclamation mark or something like that (I don't know exactly, it hasn't happened to me) it means that it's corrupted and you should be able to get your money back.

One thing that you might wanna try is to uninstall and then reinstall. Computers do strange things sometimes. It might be worth a try.

Hooray, I think i've got it working, but this is weird, let me explain.

We have opened Create>Create Device by Browsing Patches.

I have gone for the YAMAHA MOTIF BANKS, and then gone into the folder Motif Bank 1. As stated before, they are about 80 folders, all of witch are empty, but when I scroll right down to the bottom, they are about a hundred patches.

When I click on the patches, they seem to be working okay.

So can someone please confirm if this is the way these sound banks are set up? Are all the folders suppose to be empty, with the patches listed in the bottom part of the directory?

Yes, they're probably folders for samples though.
