| Need to get a new keyboard because the one I have is totally unpredictable, probably just something wrong with it's circuits. Does anyone know of a cheap yet reliable keyboard that I could get? Range = $100-$200 max. TIA, TTC

It's really a matter of preference more than anything else, and you should totally test the feel of a few different controllers in person to be 100% sure but I thouroughly enjoy my M-Audio Oxygens. The 61 key Oxy2 is only like 150 new and it works flawlessly with Reason.

I think that I'm okay for now. The drivers just weren't working, it's the manufacturer's fault, they didn't program it right at all. You can tell because when it does find midi signals, it reads "MStUio". There's also a pretty cool guide that I'm going to use, on how to make a midi keyboard out of a crappy toy that costs £5 ($8-10?) on ebay. It's not great as a main keyboard but if you made one or two, you'd get a pretty need workstation for under 20 bucks (there are some other chips you need to get actually). Anyone who's interested, check this out. http://www.headfuzz.co.uk/?q=midihack

I too need a new keyboard and I just checked out the link for the Axiom. Is it easy to configure Reason to respond to the rotary knobs and sliders etc...? If so, what do most people use them for? Are they usually specific to a particular device? My current (faulty) keyboard has only ever been used to input notes, nothing more. I feel like I'm missing out!! |

It's pretty cool, the hardware controls can be assigned to the Reason virtual controls on any device (rotary, button, fader etc) that can be automated. If there's something that you want a particular control to... well control, then you right click it, choose "Change Remote override mapping" <--- or something like that and then select "learn from surface activity". Then when you move the knob it'll know which one it is, and when you move it, the reason knob will move too. Works, with buttons, knobs, faders... anything that can be automated.
