Default Shifting Beat Position?

Suppose I have a basic 4-to-the-floor kickdrum in ReDrum (beats @ 1, 5, 9 and 13).

Is it possible to shift one of the beats slightly up or down (so that it hits just a little early or a little late) such that ONLY that one beat (ie, #5) is changed (leaving #1, 9 and 13 alone)?

I know this can be done via ReGroove but it would seem to be a lot of hit-or-miss work to find a particular ReGroove that would only shift the beat I wanted and by the correct amount.

Any ideas?

Thanks again!,
bodhiSoma

Just double click on the group of rex notes, and use the magnet tool to move the slice for whichever drum you want.

Sorry, not following. I can adjust the ReDrum notes with the DrRex loop player?

Thanks,

Oh sorry, when you said 4-to-the-floor i thought you were talking bout a rex loop in the factory soundbank. You can change the resolution and double the gaps between drum triggers and then you should be able to do what you want.

Well I would recommend swing but since you only want one note maybe titan's solution is better. I'd myself would probably just lay the pattern to track and edit the note manually.

No worries, I was imprecise.

Hm. That still seems to limit me to very discrete offsets (1/4th of a beat if I'm using 4:4 and all 32 steps). I'd like to have a much more granular control of the notes.

Obviously not your fault but I'm kind of surprised that one of the ReDrum knobs isn't a +/- offset, alongside the length, volume, etc. I would think what I'm trying to do would be needed quite often. I know ReGroove fixes this but for what I have in mind it's way closer to a sledgehammer than a scalpel.

I think that's going to have to be my solution.

Thanks to both of you!

Gah! I still can't do it!!

Here's a very short video clip of my screen as I'm trying to move one note just a tiny bit. I can move the note but only in discrete chunks, it's as if there were an invisible ruler that the note was "snapping to."

Is it possible to position the note freely in any position I want?

TIA,
bodhiSoma

Just unclick the magnet button on the sequencer. That'll stop your notes from snapping to the grid.
