| kiDsiQue reppin South Africa Here!! I got a choice between 2 controllers, the Behringer UMX61 and the M-Audio OXYGEN49. They are more or less in the same price range. Couple questions though... The Behringer has more keys which is cool but the M-Audio has cool little MIDI mixer controls on it where the behringer has'nt. That seems quite cool but I probably won't use them much cos these Keyboards are cheap and the extra controls will probably break. Getting a wider range on the M-Audio keys is not a problem cos of the NNXT advanced sampler but it just seems that the M-Audio is worth looking at ... ITS GOT TRANSPORT CONTROLS!! AAAAAND .... some other shits on there that make it much more flexible... The Behringer on the other hand, looks like its gonna hold out longer and probably won't explode one day Can someone please help with my decision cos I don't wanna regret getting a keyboard that does'nt have functionality or a keyboard thats a fucking time Bomb. |

INHO these are the best reasonably priced controllers to work with Reason Korg microkontrol Korg kontrol49 Novation Remote SL if you spend the extra dough you will be grateful later. and if you use any other daws, the remote sl is def the way to go. automap kicks ass and you wont spend most your time setting things up. |

Check out the BCR-2000, I use that, it's really good for the price (120 US dollars)

another good controller. i plan on adding one of the BCR's and a BCF to my ableton / reason setup shortly. through macki control, more knobs are always great for live sets, and the BCF motorized faders are fantastic for quick and accurate for switching EQ presets. although they are kinda big for lugging around. daft punk was using these (heavily modified with software) before they switched over to the jazz mutant lemur using max/msp. currently i am running a microkontrol and my remote sl to control reason, and the remote sl and a padkontrol for controlling live and my vst's. I would start asking myself what i want to get out of the controller, how i want to use it, and then you will be able to figure out what controller is best for your set up. best of luck! |

I'll just throw in my 2 pence real quick and say I never use the transport controls on my Oxy61, ever, even though I thought I would lol. They are not quite as responsive as you'd think and it turns out to be a hell of alot easier to drag the play marker around. Just make sure you physically can test before you buy, not necessarily within the software (though that would be ideal), but some keyboard controllers feel really crappy and others feel nice. I was torn between the Oxygen controller and some Edirol and I picked the oxy cause it just felt like it was built sturdier. That's pretty much personal preference at that point though
