Default Sampling Question

I use reason 3.0 to make beats over acapella hip hop/rap songs using the NN-XT. I upload the acapella track into the NN-XT as a sample, and then use my midi controller to make the beat like normal. But when I play the song back I can't hear just part of the sample, I have to listen to it all the way back to the beginning just to get to the part I want to change. Is there anyway to listen to a splice in the middle of the sample without starting at the beginning?

I know sometimes people are limited to very little but come on people! I dont even understand this method of remixing, it's plain stupid. Sorry, but it is.

Here's what you do.

Get Reaper:
(has a non crippling trail that never runs out and you can purchase the non commercial license for 50$ if you want)

Load the acapella into an audio track on Reaper and rewire reason into Reaper.

Now you can manipulate the acapella anyway you would in a regular audio editing program (which btw reason is not made for) and even timestretch and still use the great Reason.

Now it's not like you have to learn a whole bunch of new stuff, just how to load and export media and how to rewire using reaper. And by the way if some of you people think you can go pro while just using reason and using no DAW whatsoever, well you're in dreamland, wakeup.

And this will save you a ton of time and open new possibilities like VST support.

Finally if you already new about the DAW rewire option and just want to handle the acapella in reason, well that's just not very smart. Reason is a rack of very capable "hardware" and a pretty good sequencer, nothing more, nothing less.

Okay and now my rant's over.

reaper is really worth getting, though, and i think that anyone using reason should learn how to use this. using this and reason, maybe ableton or fl, you'll get so much more done and be open to more choices... 10/10

What makes Reaper better than other DAW systems? Is it the price for what you get? Not trying to be a smart arse, but just asking?

Lol, yeah i went a little overboard on that post, but also that post was mostly directed to anyone who reads that and thinks that. It wasn't directed to you only. I was just trying to stress that using rewire is a great solution for remixing handling vocals while still working in reason. Now I know cubase has rewire but I'm not sure about the LE version. Sometimes LE versions of DAWs dont have the rewire feature.

here's a youtube video of how to rewire in cubase (that might be version 3 in that vid but the process should be similar in version 4):
