Default NNXT or so Question or so....LOL

Ok. I have a sample loaded that I chopped up in recycle. Well I know that I can change the pitches of the individual slices.

but what if I want to change the pitch of a slice and then assign that (slice with the different pitch) to another key...

meaning I'll still have the original slice to use in the sequence as well.

I even see there is a solo sample button that you can push that changes the sample pitch for the length of the board, but doing that makes you loose all the other slices until you push the solo sample button again.

seems like a pretty simple feature, just wondering how to do it.

at the same time that you answer this question you'll answer the one about how to assign samples to individual keys.

oh yeah, how do you load slices into the redrum? that probably can't be done, i know you can load up samples in there, but what if they are sliced (using recycle) will it load the slices in the to the redrum...

lots of questions i know...but please remember you are creating a beast!!!!

thanks

just sample it with the NN19, and use that for anything else Rex can't do.

So you want to duplicate a rex slice, pitch it, then assign the pitched rex slice to a different key?

Yes I'm talking about the rex format in general.

Anyway just as you add a sample in the nnxt you can add an individual rex slice, just browse through your rex files open up the .rex file and select the exact slice you want. Then pitch it and assign the root note to the key you want. Now you have two exact same rex slices one pitched and one regular. And also as I said before you can not change the pitch of a sample in reason without changing it's tempo, you can't time stretch in reason, use a DAW for that.

that's good SG. that is what I want. I don't want the tempo to change. i will mess around with that nnxt some tomorrow to see if. so what is the main difference in the xt and the 19? someone said before that the 19 is the new xt or did I get that backwards? i am not even sure how to assign samples to keys but i'll check on it...I'm sure i can figure it out.

SG man I got another hot one dude. you won't believe it. my wife won't let me put it on the net yet for fear that someone is gonna beat jack me. and the beat is pretty serious man.

The nnxt is the newer device, and it blows away the nn19 with its features in my opinion.

I made this tutorial for the original poster of the thread below it might help you with loading individual rex slices:

And as for that track, just keep making that heat. I'm already liking your tracks man if you think people gonna jack it, dont post it up lol. Although people who jack beats in mp3 format will end up with a shitty mix if they record vocals over it so personally I'm never too worried about that stuff.

I said the wife. She saw a video on youtube about some stuff between timbland and the song "do it" on fergies album...people saying he stole the beat .

as far as the mix. i hear ya. but maybe they won't jack it that way. maybe they are like me and can play just about anything I hear...mostly at least. Maybe they can just replay everything based on the idea...know what I mean.

Yeah that's true but depending on the complexity of the beat no matter how much they replay it'll never really come out exactly like yours, and you may have access to different synths and samples that they don't have. I use to worry about that stuff but whoever does that stuff is bound to end up sued one day.
