what do you mean you have an old sample you looped up...is the sample a drum loop that you are trying to break into "chops" and then assign the chops to the midi keyboard... if so you can do that in recycle. But if you mean you can't get the drum loops included in reason to line up with the sample you looped, then that is an entirely different beast. |

[QUOTE=DrKillPatient;4154Is there a way of manually doing the drums? Like how you see producers tapping the pads on an mpc? I only just got reason today, so if this seems like a dumb question, forgive me! Peace[/QUOTE] Just chop the sample up by every hit/kick/snare etc. and assign them to a key inside the NN-XT..But when i do the "mpc" style type chopping i use NI Battery its much easier to control the sample.. |

The sample I looped up already has drums, but I wanna put new drums on there..a kick, kick, kick, snare..kick, snare.. I can find the drums I wanna use on redrum and I can create the pattern, but the problem is getting the timing of the new drums right with the looped sample What I'm trying to do is say..assign key A on my keyboard to the kick and then key S on my keyboard to the snare..then play the loop and put the drums in myself manually by tapping the A or S key at the right time while the loop is playing Is that possible? Like to use your keyboard like you would a drum pad? Sorry if I didn't explain it too well, hopefully someone out there will be able to make sense of it.. |

You can use an NNXT for this purpose. if you don't know how i'll explain it to you.

well you load up an NNXT. at the bottom left corner of the device, you'll see a > thing and "remote editor" next to it. click on the > to drop the remote editor down. as you can see with the initial piano patch, every sample is assigned to a different note. now, right click on the NNXT and select "initialize device". then, in the remote editor, in the top-right corner, load up a drum sample. you'll see something like this G sample: . . . . . . . <piano roll> bassdrum . . . <huge amount of notes will play this sample> now just move this section here ^ to whatever key(s) to want to assign for that sample. if there's an issue with pitch, try changing the root, low note, and high note controls, or the octave and semi controls in the pitch section.
