Default Question (Not sure how to describe it)

Another question. I'm trying to figure out how to get a sound to go to both ears and having a presence in each but not like a frontal presence. Like when you hear the sound in headphones and the presence is strong in the left and right ears but it doesn't have a frontal sounding presence to it. If someone here knows what I'm saying, I'd like to know what effect can do that.

In traditional recording it's done by having two idenical tracks with one panned hard left and one panned hard right. Then, set one of the tracks out of phase. Reverb also helps when doing this. This method gives the music more of a spatial ambiance.
