Hey all. I just got an Evolution UC-33 external control and I'm having problems with mapping the keys and the presets.

First of all, the presets don't make much sense to me because the overall layout doesn't make much sense, and not all of the paramaters are covered.

When I try to map the parameters to the device, I right click on the parameter (eg, Filter 1 Freq in Subtractor) select Edit Override Mapping, select UC-33e as the control surface, and check the box learn from Control Surface Input- then when I manipulate the fader or knob that I want to assign to the parameter, a lot of times it will read the wrong button (eg, C16 for when I am turning C11) or it just won't recognize any input from the uc-33.

I don't think it's the hardware; I bought it new and the amount on the display on the UC-33 changes when I mess with the controls.

Is this a common problem? How can I fix it? How do you guys set up your control devices?

I can assure you it's the hardware. Not the hardware itself, but you need to use a preset (assuming the controller supports presets)

For awhile I was using a 25 key oxygen 8, and after Reason detected it you are asked to use a certain preset. I was all like "Yeah whatever I just want to get started" and I neglected to follow the instructions. Naturally, I lost the manual shortly after that and couldn't remember what the hell I needed to do.

Recently I rebought the same controller but a larger size, made sure to follow the directions properly and now it works like a charm.

Hopefully, the manual will say which controller preset needs to be selected.

Double hopefully the controller has presets lol, otherwise, I'm not really sure what to say

cool..you just made me remember that Reason said that it changed Preset 2 or something- now that I try that preset it makes way more sense in terms of layout.

NP man glad it sounded like it was the same problem I had. I remember twisting knobs on mine and it was doing the same thing and I'm thinking WTF these knobs make NO sense lol
