Question Rewire-midi-usb-problem

Hello.

I´m using Reason 4.0 and Cubase sx3. I´m using a keyboard with usb-connection.
When i open Reason: no problem.
When i open Cubase first and then Reason, it says that it couldent set up the controlsurfaces propperly. It is as if Cubase colonizes the midiport and no other program can use it. When i go to Reasons preferences>controlsurfaces... it cant find the keyboard, but ONLY when Cubase is open.

Anyone come across this problem before?

Thanks in advance

I have the same problem, but I fear, it is normally.
When Reason is started in Rewire Slave mode, it will recieve all MIDI-Input from - and only from - the Rewire Host. So you have to setup cubase so that it sends you MIDI input to Reason.
I don´t like this behaviour, too, because working with MIDI in Reason then is very limited and annoying. For example you can even not use all the "Remote Override" functions, because MIDI Data via ReWire can only be transmitted to a certain device, not to the program in general.
Maybe, there´s a possibility to have 2 applications access the same MIDI devices. I dont know.

Okay so if youre using your host DAW (in this case cubase) because you want to control other instruments and parameters while also controlling your devices in reason all with the same keyboard. Well then yes you have to set up a rewire track and manually configure the midi inputs (which is pretty damn easy in the first place). But let's say you just want to use your keyboard only in reason and you're doing all your mixing/mastering in cubase. You can do that without manually configuring your midi inputs. Here's how I made it work in my DAW Reaper. I went to options and then I disabled the midi inputs and outputs of my keyboard. Then I started up reason and now reason was able to use my keyboard exclusively.
