Well, latency can usually be fixed by decreasing the sample buffer rate in Edit>Preferences. I don't know if USB is faster than MIDI, I wouldn't say so, but I've only ever used USB, which was on a pretty mediocre keyboard, and I worked great.

AFAIK USB is faster then MIDI, but indeed the most latency problems have to do with the soundbuffer and the soundcard drivers. IŽd try to fix the problem there first.

| I know my soundcard is cheap. I have a midi-keyboard pluged thru a M-Audio UNO Midi to USB interface (No audio or signal processing,there lowest ehd interface). When I hit a note there is a lag in time before I hear the note. Thank you all for your input.

Did you check the soundbuffer thing we mentioned above? btw: You can maybe increase your soundcard performance by using the ASIO4ALL driver, which works with many cheap onboard soundcards. |
