Default Midi Controller for Reason (knobs and sliders)

Can you control the knobs and sliders withing reason using a midi controller...

basically the same way you can control logic (and other DAWs). controlling the mixer faders and turn knobs and things like that....

thanks.

Yes almost anything in reason can be controlled by midi in reason. You can even scroll through devices with midi.

Right click the button/knob/slider and choose "edit remote override mapping" then just click the "Learn from control surface input". Now all you do is move move whatever you want on your control surface and it will detect that certain key/knob/sider and reason will keep track of that.

You can also go to options > edit remote override mode and do the same thing except its a bit easier because you just click the parameter and do same thing as above but it's better for doing it to multiple knobs, sliders buttons and all that. Hope that helps, I know I probably didn't explain that well but I'm really tired and sleep deprived.

thanks you explained it perfect. I just hope it works when I try it tomorrow.

is there a way to set it where you don't have to set it everytime you start a new song? or even to make the same controls control the same parameters on a given device everytime it is used?

also can on control point (knob, fader, etc...) control more than one parameter across different devices...(example, a knob controls the fader parameter on the mixer...but when I chose the nnx-19 (or whatever its called), it will control one of the knobs for that device (within the same song of course...)

hope this is all making sense.

Well I think I know what you're talking about but to tell you the truth usually the keyboard or at least newer keyboards have presets that you can use when using with reason. Because if you remote override the parameter it'll control it no matter what device reason is focused on. What midi controller do you use?

well when you say midi controller, are you talking about what do I use to play the notes or what do I use to control the parameters?....

if you are talking about the notes, I use a Roland JW-50 Workstation and a Triton Pro X. as the keyboard to play the notes. and the parameters are controlled using my mouse. I was trying to see if I could assign the knobs and sliders that these keyboards have to control the parameters in Reason.

The controller that I am in the process of purchasing is the Tascam 1082. Once I get it, it will serve as my audio interface as well as my midi controller for logic...not sure how I can use it with reason though. If someone has an idea, please chime in...I mean I have a slight idea, but I am not sure.
