Default Vocoder type vocal effects?

Is it possible to record a vocal track in Pro Tools, export it as a .wav file, open it in Reason, and then add some crazy vocoder like effects to it?

How would I go about doing this? What kinds of plugins should I use to alter my voice?

I know this kinda stuff is possible because I hear it all the time in profesional recordings... lots of awsome and unique vocal effects. If I can't do it with Reason, how do I create these effects?

Thanks,
DM

You don't need to use protools, you just need to record a wav with headphones over your head and the Reason Click going at the right speed and export it into an NNXT/NN19/Redrum. Then you make a vocoder out of it (Search Youtube).

I searched the vocoder videos on youtube. I couldn't find any I like. They are either too fast, don't explain enough, or aren't in english. Any way you can link me the good ones?

Well the one I used when I was learing was too fast, but there is a pause button... lol...

You can make out what's connected to what if you just look closely.

First load the sample in whatever device you're choosing to play it in (dr.rex, nnxt etc). Now record your midi or copy to track so that the audio plays, also it's probably best to loop it right now. Now create a vocoder and the synth that's going to carry the effect. Now here's the important part.

1. Press tab.

2. Route the device playing the sample to the vocoder's modulator input (the one with the mic symbol next to it.)

3. Now route the synth's outputs into the vocoder's left and right carrier inputs.

4. Now while your audio's playing play your synth to see if it's all working.

5. If it is, congrats you did it. Now just browse patches on your synth till you get an effect that you're happy with or tweak the presets till you're satisfied.

Remember that you have to be playing both the sample and the synth at the same time (vocals and the synth you have connected to the vocoder).
