Default midi - recognises input but doesn't record

Hi everyone, i'm new to reason so apologies if this is a silly question. I have a windows xp laptop, reason 3 and an m-audio audiophille connected to a midi keyboard. When I hit a note on the keyboard the light on the midi in devices flashes in recognition as does the 'note on' light in whichever sequencer I've created. However when I select a synth to record the lights flash but it doesn't record anything. I've followed the instructions of various tutorials but it has not helped. If anyone has any suggestions I will be very gratefull of your advice. Thankyou, Kaile.

Does Reason recognize the Audiophile as a device in the midi setup page? You may need to pick generic controller for it to pass the messages, I never tried with a box like that. If Reason can't see the box then the keyboard won't be able to send data to it. Hope this helps a lil or other people have other insight

Thanks iammane but it's still being a pain!! I added the audiophille on the control surfaces and keyboards tab under preferences and reason recognises the driver (it has a little green tick next to it). However it still is not recording even though it is clearly picking up the signal of me hitting the keyboard. I'm still really puzzled, any suggestions? Thanks everyone

Angry Same problem

I am thinking this is a common problem with Reason and the M-Audio devices, as my oxygen does the exact same thing. A friend of mine told me that it may be because the device is newer than the program, because Reason "recognizes" the oxygen as a legit device, and I can get the sound output, but recording isnīt possible. Unfortunately we still have not found a solution, although he said that maybe with version 4, it would be recognieable. Other than that you have to go in to some editor, and do a bunch of complicated stuff which I did not understand. Help?

hey i found out why it wasn't recording it's silly really, all I'd done was set the device up as a midi controller rather than keyboard in the preferences window. Hope this helps you with your problem.
