| Been using reason for about two years with no problems until now. Problem: I'm going midi out from a Yamaha DTXpress into my PC using an Echo Mia sound card. By doing this, I'm able to use the Reason drums triggered by playing pads. Works great, however, when I close out of Reason, my PC crashes (blue screen). It only crashes when I am hooked up to the midi in from the Yamaha. I've tried to set the Yamaha different ways. Any suggestions? Joe |

Tried re-installing it? That's usually the best thing to do because the blue screen of death usually appears when a file or files are corrupted.

Thanks for the reply Titancow. Yes, that's the first thing that I did, but no help. Joe |

Right... what version of Reason are you using?

I'm using 3.0. I don't have problem with the usb input for the keyboard. I even undo the midi input selection in the "Control Surfaces and Keyboards" when I close out, but once Reason has accepted the midi input it seems locked in. I could try (which I have to some degree) different things and settings, but it's not good for my pc to keep crashing. I might try going into my Midi Sport and see what happens. This has got me puzzeled. I set the Yamaha back to the default as well, but that didn't help. Could it be a clocking problem? The Yamaha has no clock to my knowledge. Thanks again. Joe |

Well if you write down the STOP code that you get at the blue screen of death (The whole sequence after the word STOP) that can tell you what the nature of the crash is. If you get the blue screen again, take it down, then you can figure out where the problem's coming from using Google. I doubt that it has anything to do with the Yamaha, it probably has to do with a glitch in the Reason engine or some bad file somewhere.

Titancow, Today I ran the midi out of my Yamaha into the midi sport and so far, it's working fine, no crashes. Must be a problem with my sound card's midi in. Thanks a lot for your help. Joe |
