Default Thor is eating my computer!!!

I've just upgraded to a faster laptop, 2G RAM AMDx2 Dual Core, running Vista. Reason runs pretty fast on this machine, but as soon as I load in Thor it all goes wrong! It takes all the processor power and starts spitting and coughing, so playback is really poor. Even with Vistas apperence settings disabled, it still runs the same as my old 1G XP laptop! I'm not sure how to get around this, any suggestions on how I can increase memory and performance? Is it just my PC, or my setup?
Could I get rid of Vista, and drop XP onto my computer to free up some more memory and processor power?
Help! I just wanna write some music!

Well there's been complaints that regular computers that come with vista have even crappier sound cards than in regular computers with XP. So I say check out the model of your sound card and try to see if it's any good.

Happens to me when i play with thor on my slower pc.

My computer basically shits itself, it's no fun. Most likely a sound card/ram issue.

I think your best hope is to run your new laptop on XP. A friend of mine had similar problems with a very high spec Sony laptop he bought recently. He is running XP now and all is fine.

Having said that, there is no guarantee that the same would apply to your situation
