Smoke some greenary. Try replicating somones track. It will never sound the same and you will come up with ideas when you get on with it. Rather than writing just try and make crazy sounds the idea's will flow once you have found a good one. |

If I can't write, I'll just put anything down even if it's crap. Later on, when your writer's block opens up, then you'll probably have better ideas and go back and edit some stuff. Also, it helps to always have a notebook or tape recorder or something nearby, so if you have an idea and can't exactly put it in Reason right that second, you can at least make a note of it to jog your memory later. You can have a stockpile like an "idea bank" that you can use when you've got writer's block. |

I always make beats but when i get stuck or frustrated, i'll not make a beat for like a week, so that way i don't burn myself out...get myself refreshed and come back stronger, usually it pays off because my beats are constantly getting better

thx for the ideas guys So far (if anyone is interested) what's been helping is downloading new music and making piano riffs and to stop worrying about effects and what instruments sound cool. All I'm doin now is makin a piano riff and making drums to go with it and then im gonna add the more complicated stuff later. Last edited by xF8x; January 4th, 2008 at 02:00. |

I find it good to do the more technical stuff first... like the Pattern in a rhythmic Trance Seq, or the compression on a bass... or the eq on a live drum set...
