I use reason for trance, I think it's perfect as long as you have the right samples.

Reason is really an all around tool for any production, be it hip hop, breakbeat, trance etc. BUT if you really didn't feel comfortable using it then don't purchase it, you shouldn't get something you don't like. Then again if you really didn't try to learn the program and just thought "I'll get on this and try to make a hit!" without learning the basic functions then I'd suggest to give it another go.

yeah, a lot of people like to use FL Studio, Cubase or Sonar instead. To name a few.

On a bunch of other websites people complain that propellerhead are always shaping the program to be more friendly towards people who write this kind of music (trance). Not sure if I agree - I think reason (with vers 4) is great for all types of music.

All depends on the samples and presets you use.

I used to use it for house and trance back in the day. Here are a few samples of what I've done with Reason. I've never finished any of it. Yes, I am a lazy sound if a biach.

Also keep in mind this is 2002-2004 production. Back then I was heavily influenced by UK Hard House. So it's not really trance, but it should give you an idea what could be done.

And also another thing I want to note is that this is from back in the day when I didn't use Dr. REX at all. All drums are written out in Re:drum.

So on that note, click here and then click "download" in the left bottom side. It's a .zip file with several short samples.

I think that's 100% BS. People just talk shit because they can't do something and they blame the program. I have friends who produce amazing hip hop beats and one guy who studies music in college, he does classical pieces in it. That's right, he plays many instruments and just records them all into Reason and it sounds like a full orchestra is playing together. Really awesome. At the same time there are famous DNB producers that use Reason.

So I'd conclude that Reason is def not limited to trance only.
