What do you mean as in "usb ins/outs" are you talking about your inputs for your midi controllers?

| Okay so if I'm understanding this right you're saying that you can only use your midi controller for live and reason won't read any midi input while in rewire right? If so, make sure you're creating a midi channel for each device you rewire into reason. For example, you rewire an nnxt device with an piano patch loaded, you create an audio track rewired to whatever channels the nnxt is linked to then create a midi track for those same channels and now you should be able to control the nnxt through live's sequencer. If you have no idea what I'm talking about it's time to go back and study the whole rewire process. If you're attempting to rewire I must emphasize that you should LEARN THE BASICS. Hope this helps. _SG_ |

i open live first then i set one of the audio tracks to "audio from reason". then i open reason, reason tells me the midi port is being used. and in reason, the where the hardware devices are, it says "ReWire Slave Mode" but when i play the demo song, and make Live play off of reason, it plays. any idea what's going on because this stinks. i make gameboy beats but i want create crazy stuff on reason. |

If reason says it's in "slave" mode then then yes you can rewire. And when you're creating that audio track and picking "audio from reason" that means you've already rewire. Now see here's your problem, read this carefully. When you open live first it knows that you have a midi device so it takes control of your midi device's input. So when you open reason which would normally use your midi controller, well it can't because live is already using it. Get it? So there's two solutions. You can: 1. Disable the midi controller in live, so live doesn't use the midi inputs . That way when you open reason it'll work. In live go to Option > Preferences > Midi/Sync. Then under Control Surface make sure all slots are "None", do the same for inputs and outputs. Then Close live and start it up again then. Now start up reason and in reason go to your options and make sure you control surface is set up. 2. Or you can read this http://www.ableton.com/pages/rewire/reason_3 to fully understand rewire then create midi tracks along with your audio ones to control the devices in reason. |
