Unhappy I've got a nice beat in ReDrum...How to RECORD it?

I have a beat going in ReDrum (I'm a total Reason newbie). When I click "Run" it plays, etc.....For the LIFE of me I can't figure out how to simply record it down below in the Transport area....It "seems" to record, but then after I'm done recording how ever many measures I want and play it back, it just keeps playing and playing and playing (Looping is turned off). What am I doing wrong? I want to record, say...16 measures of this beat, and then stop the recording and be able to copy/paste that loop wherever I want in the song. Thanks in advance.
