Default Yamaha so8 compatiblity

I tried to connect my keyboard to my mac today and i changed some stuff on the keyboard to usb, and when i'm in add devices in midi setup in mac, i can get sound when i press the keys, but when I go into Reason, it does not find my keyboard/drivers. Idk if it's not compatibly or i am doing something wrong.

any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

I explained this a while ago to someone on this forum. The procedure is something like this:

Try installing your keyboard first
Then go to reason
Click preferences
Press auto detect new device first
Then press add. If it doesn't show your device, the picture I mean, try to select a device type that fits your. For example, something like ''keyboard with knobs and etc.''

Make sure you go to advanced midi setup after that! You can also find this at the preference menu.

Then select from Bus A, Bus B etc. your device.

Once you did that, restart your computer. Good luck man, I know how it feels. I can use my keyboard but not my knobs and stuff. It kind of sucks you know.

Ya, I was all stoked and then found out that there wasn't a definition file for the keyboard. I selected the host select and etc on the keyboard and when i go into Audio Midi Setup which is included in OS X and I press "test keyboard" when i press keys i get sound on the computer so I know i'm getting connectivity. But i'll try selecting a similar device and messing with the BUS A and BUS B. Thank you very much for this information i'll update you on my progress

Nice! It worked

I just set it to the default m-audio, midi input to my s08, and then bus A and bus B to my so8 and it worked perfect without a restart.

Thank you very much for your help!

You are welcome . Now, if anyone could help me with how to use my knobs with reason. My keys only work, you see. I went to the dealer today to ask if he knows, but nope.

Once I figure this out I would like to write a tutorial about this problem. I read on the internet that a lot of people have this problem but don't know how to solve it.

Anyway, have fun with your keyboard!

I guess you could try messing around with the type of keyboard you set it as, e.g. instead of "basic midi keyboard", "keyboard with controls" or "controller".
