Default New to Reason - Acapella question

I'm new to reason / music production and was curious if there was a way in reason to layer an acapella over a bassline/track? My initial thought is maybe i can slice the acapella up and use redrum to trigger the samples, but i'm not sure if that is the best way? Then there also comes into question about matching the tempo and I don't believe reason can time stretch? Would it better to use another program to layer the acapella/time stretch, such as Acid or Abelton? Thanks much.

I'd say your best bet is to use reason in rewire with any Daw and then take the acapella import it to your host program and match it to your beat. At the moment I use reason rewired to ableton live 6, really like it. Hope this helps.

Get a version of ReCycle. That should solve all of your problems.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into ableton and see if that does the trick.

Can you explain a bit further how i could go about using recycle to accomplish this? Thanks!

Well, in Recycle you load up a wav file or something similar and slice it. You then set the tempo, and it becomes directly related to the tempo in Reason.

i have had many problems using recycle. it is brilliant if you don't want a full acapella for 3 of 4 minutes of a track, and just want a loop of 4 bars say (like a chopped up soul sample would be recorded back over a hip hop beat). but when it comes to full acapellas its really hard to get the tempo to match. some people say you can work out the tempo in recycle, which you can, however it calculates this tempo based on the amount of bars in the track, and if this acapella has a time lag of 1 second before the acapella starts, then this will cause a floor in the calculated tempo. (i'm assuming this lol, as ive experimented a lot with recycle and reason). i think you're best bet is to use something like ableton or acid, like others advise, and rewire it to reason, so you can have you're full song in reason, and just the acapella in ableton for example. this is what i hear you can do, and i'm going to try and get hold of ableton right now lol.

good luck
