Default quick question...

Hey everyone... Im just getting used to reason as I have used sonar and audio for a long time. MIDI is failry new to me but Ive started getting my bearings with reason 3.0. I have a question though about eq'ing in reason 3.0.

I rewired my reason into sonar not realizing that I would not be able to control volume for my mix and I wouldnt be able to eq each track seperately. How can I eq each track individually and seperately in reason?

Edit: sorry, other then the basic eq parameters on the mixer.

If I'm understand you correctly, what you want to do is scrap reason's mixer, then connect your devices straight up to reason's hardware interface. So basically lets say you got a good string sound on a cool nnxt patch, you take the nnxt's left and right channels and virtually wire it to reason's hardware interface 1 and 2 channels. 1 being the left channel and 2 being the right channel. I don't use sonar exactly so I don't know how you access these channels in that program, but if you need help with the virtual wiring done in reason I can show a little pic tutorial and maybe even a video one. Hope this helps

Pics or a video would be great. Basically, Im not looking to do anything specifically. I am just curious how to individually eq a track. I am very new to MIDI, so Im unsure.

Im used to sonar where every track had a seperate eq grid. If i rewire reason to sonar and put my song together, is the only way to eq it in sonar is to convert the MIDI to audio? Would that do it? Is that supid to do?

Okay, I'll try to make a video one, because a pic one might get a bit lengthy, too bad I'm having problems with syncing audio in camtasia!

thanks very much. So I guess converting the MIDI to audio isnt an option? I figured after converting it I could mix and eq right in sonar with audio tracks only?? Will it lose quality?

Eh, I'd say it wouldn't be the best way to do it, but you can do it, as long as you export it as wavs before eqing you shouldn't loose too much quality. Wait, let me get this straight, you want to eq all your tracks seperately through your Sonar right? Like the drums seperate, the strings seperate, etc?

right. for example:

Say I have a 10 track song, 5 tracks are midi (kick, snare, hats, strings, and piano) and the other 5 are audio tracks of some synths.

I can eq and control volume of the audio tracks within sonar 6. However I cant eq and control volume in sonar with the MIDI tracks. Basically, i would like to be able to control every track in sonar... but if I cant, and shouldnt convert MIDI to audio (because of the quality) I would like to learn how to eq my kick, snare, hats, strings, and piano seperately in reason, so they dont all have the same eq. Im sorry if I cant explain it properly. Do you kind of follow me?
