| i recently made a song and i dont know what i did wrong but for some reason whenever i play it over a certain volume it starts to distort all the instruments (even the rendered version) im not just playing it too loud because i can play other music much louder with the same sound card/speakers and there is no distortion could someone tell me how i can fix this? (maybe i should reduce the individual mixer line volumes and up the master? or vice versa? maybe im rendering it with the wrong format?) i would really appreciate it also, i make alot of trance and long cymbal crashes and builds are a must...i was wondering if there was some instrument that i havent found or perhaps some way to make crashes and impact sounds with reason? thx |

Well sound usually gets distorted like that when you have all or some of the volume sliders up full. Drag them back down to about 70%, 127 is max and 100 is where it should be. If you want to make cymbal crashes you could use RV7000 reverb, but that's all I can really think of... if you want to make cymbal crash samples then you should really use other software for this part - like Sound Forge or something.

thx yeah i can make the reverb on the regular cymbal crashes work...i guess i was hoping for a patch preset with tons of cymbal sounds lol and dragging down the sliders worked |

Try using a m class maximizer if it's so quiet.

Don't know, try it, if it does don't save it. What levels are you playing these instruments for it to be distorted like that, that never happens to me, it might be your sound card?

sg: try playing a reason song with all VU sliders up full. I have a state of the art sound system and it still distorts on me. keep all VU sliders down at 100 and turn the speakers volume up. check volume control to see if wave and master sliders are too low or something.

Okay now I understand what kind of distortion you mean, but why would you need the sliders so high up, I've never used an instrument and had to put the levels so high.

idk....its really weird i'm relating it to just like...normal songs i have in my music folder songs are pretty much the same volume when i play them, but somehow with reason the songs i make are much quieter than anything else...either i keep the sliders down to normal and the song is really quiet, or i turn the sliders up to make the song the same volume as everything else and the song gets distorted its not my sound card or speakers or comp volume settings because im comparing the reason song to other songs on my computer...so its something in the software thats turned down...idk if its the default instrument volume, some setting i can change in preferences...idk :/ |

actually...if you want i can link you the song and you can see how quiet it rendered (i rendered it at the highest volume that I could before it would start to distort)
