| I have got the hang of using the rex loop master but I am struggling with samples. I have some .wavs I want to use as samples. So I load them into my NN19 successfully but I don't know how to play them within the NN19 so i can record onto the track and test out various pitch settings etc. I can't find any good tutorials on the net for this at all. I want to load a wav. Play it. adjust settings and record it to my track so it shows up in the project window at the bottom. Anybody help me on basic sampling? Thanks |

Now personally I use samples in a very very uncommon way within reason. I cut them up into the right length and place them in ReDrum then set ReDrum to the right amount of steps for the sample. But if you want to do in a other device I suggest the NN-XT sampler. It has alot of parameters you can adjust. After you load the sample you could use a keyboard to hold down a key (the c3 key is the default note). You can change root note of the sample as shown in the pic below. Since you don't have a keyboard you can still manually input the a note by clicking the button which is shown in the pic below which will bring you into what I call "edit" mode because I'm not very smart. Then you select the pen tool and draw the note on its default root note or according to whatever you want the pitch to be. Look to the pic below to guide you. Well I hope this helps you I know it's a little vague but i was short on time. If you have any more questions about what I posted feel free to ask. _SG_ |

Can he use his normal PC keyboard to play the notes? I have never tried. If you can't then you will have to into the sequencer view and play the keys on the left hand side of SG's 2nd screen shot by clicking on them. This can also be recorded, but is a terribble way of doing things. I suggest you buy a keyboard. Even if you can't play it you will thank yourself a million times over. I think I should post a little step by step of how i chop up samples then put them in ReDrum, it's useful for people without keyboards or people like me who dont like using the nnxt for sampling. Heck I just made whole song without using my keyboard. It's a bit complicated to explain though |

SG i'd love to hear a detailed description of how you load samples into redrum - the idea sounds like it would work well with my set up

Yes I've been thinking about how I could do it because I think that a pic tutorial wouldn't be enough I mean to really get how I sample you would have to hear what I'm doing, so maybe a video tutorial? I don't know, I would have to see how I could go about doing that. Would you guys like some short video tutorials for some of your problems or is it a waste of time?
