| My setup is as follows: MK-149 to Mdisport 2x2 to computer via USB. Now, my computer and Reason recognizes that my keyboard is connected. However, every now and then, Reason will stop recognizing my keyboard. My keyboard still sends data, as the light on the USB adaptor is flashing, but Reason isn't So in order to re-recognize it, I have to go to the preferences, delete my master keyboard, re select it again, and it'll work for another 7 - 10 minutes, before doing the exact same thing again. Anyone have any suggestions? I thought it would've been the connections, but the light on my MIDI to USB adaptor indicates that the keyboard is connected. And I'm pretty sure I've installed the drivers correctly for the usb/midi convertor, while there are no drivers available for the keyboard. |

Quick update: I've noticed that this is a problem with other programs I've started to use. I downloaded a freeware keyboard program, and when I play my piano keyboard, I see the notes playing, but after a few minutes or so, the program doesn't respond to the notes. I then have to do the same routine of manually disconnecting and reconnecting the input parameters, and it works for another few minutes. |

maybe try plugging in a power adapter, sometimes you think that a keyboard can run on just the USB power, but it's actually struggling and needs an adapter. If that isn't the case, it might boost the power levels and maintain a steady level of power. If that doesn't work, make sure that you're keyboard is installed, and go into control panel and into Sound and Audio settings and set your keyboard the the master MIDI device. If that doesn't fix it then maybe get some pro, hands-on advice.

Ah I think it might be the power adaptor. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the right one, but I can't find another in the house. As long as I find an adaptor with similar power specifications, does it usually work or do I absolutely have to find the same adaptor made by the company? I've never had to replace an AC adaptor before.

I have always found that power adaptors work across a broad range of devices, but that's not to say it will in this case. Do some research on your keyboard and find out what adaptor you need and i'm sure you'll be able to buy one online. Does your keyboard run without the adaptor - ie use the power from the USB as mine does? - give it a go without using the mains adaptor. Maybe there is a conflict between USB power and mains power. |

Thanks for the suggestion. Alas, it does not run on the USB cable alone. Pure speculation, but I'm guessing it's because the USB has only enough power to power the USB Bus-Powered MIDI Interface.

+/- polarity 1.5/3/4.5/6/7.5/9 Volts And it also has different male jumpers (the things that you stik into the back of the keyboard to give it power) with different sizes, so at least one of them will fit. You'll probably find a device like this off EBay or in an electrical store... maybe even in a pound shop.
