Default Only One Track Audible

I'm very good at asking stupid questions as I learn new software products (regardless of user manuals), so bear with me...

I'm running Reason 3 for OS X. My only source for Reason input is via 'Import MIDI File...' and some separate product, either lilypond or Sibelius. Assume whatever MIDI file I use is valid input of arbitrary origin.

I have no problem importing a given .mid file and connecting every voice to an instrument. When I press 'Play,' I always hear only one voice: that of the top synth on the rack. Nothing will change this. It is as if the 'Solo' button is on (and before you ask, it's not ). The other devices are clearly receiving input from the silent tracks, since 'Note On' lights up as expected. They just don't churn out audio.

If the answer is obvious, feel free to shame me -- it's the only way I'll learn.

Hmm... Do you have a device assigned to each sequencer track? Is each device properly routed to the mixer and mixer to the controller? Are you sure the notes are within the range if you are using a sampler?

...oh dear. I didn't have a mixer to start. I didn't look hard enough at 'Creating a New Song' in the manual, I suppose.

Thank you.
