I'm new to reason... I figured out most of the program pretty quickly but for some reason I can't figure out how to automate effect parameters (ie. envelope controlled filter frequency). I'm sure i'm missing something simple here.... Thanks!

Make sure you have a sequncer track for the device you wish to automate. If you are trying to automate one of the FX devices, which does not come with a sequencer channel by default, then you need to create an empty channel and select that device from the drop down.

If this doesn't help, then please explain what exactly is your problem.
