| so it goes a little something like this: someone starts a track. a beat, a bassline, some crazy glitchez, whatever... then after a set period of time (let's say 48 hours) that someone uploads the self contained .rns for another one to continue working on the same track. there are some obvious advantages to trying this out. you get to see how _sg_ wired his subtractors for instance. you can learn all sorts of stuff. also, to avoid total chaos, there mus be some rules. i'll name a few, you're free to add anything you thing might be worth mentioning. rules: 1. you can change what the person before made but in such a way that tha track (read loop) retains a cohesive sound. so, fo instance, if nuttsdutts makes a nice glitchy idm type drum beat, the person after him can very well change that so it's a trip hop (yet still a wee bit glicthy) beat. get it? hope so... this might be a bit tricky to pull off but i think it's well worth a try. feel totally free to point out anything that might be wrong in my judgement and add anything else. looking forward to hearing your opinions on this |

lol, not so fast. let's have a few more opinions on this first edit: well, ok. since i've had this loop for more than a month now i might just as well pass it over it's a sort of shuffly, acoustic house type thing http://www.sendspace.com/file/7pu0sa Last edited by dumi; May 23rd, 2007 at 19:37. |

Count me in, I'll try to do something crazy but I'm mostly hip hop so this might be a little of a challenge taking on your types of music, but I'm up for it.

Here is my edit. I added the piano and a prec loop. The piano I wrote totally by ear, so it might be wrong all together. I have no formal music education and I don't even have a midi keyboard. I know, I know... Sad, but true! http://www.mediafire.com/?54v2t4cxr37 |

Sound idea, i'm in. Although it will be a head fuck as i'll have to put it on a flash drive and take it home. (no net at home) - but I do have a midi keyboard, haha. Prob a good idea to know we all have the same patches/samples so it loads on everyone's computer (just use the Reason soundbank????). I take it all involved have Reason 3? Can people try and keep the track managable and tidy, ie naming devices, deleting unwanted sequencer tracks etc. It will take less time to figure out whats going on then, especially if the song gets complicated. Could be good to know what speakers people are mixing on too. |

nuttsdutts pointed out some important things. the .rns i uploaded had from the very start 4 combinators (each with a dr rex for kick, snares, hats and another kick drum) full of eqs/compressors and whatnot. and yeah, i guess we all have reason 3. as fro the speakers.... i have a pair of panasonic speakers that came with my hi-fi tower. they're not studio monitors but they get the job done. edit: so i say we start clean with another project. |

Sorry, I didn't mean to pop the creative bubble. I hope Moltar didn't spend to long on his piano loop, We should define a style of music to start with. I'm happy with most styles. Maybe keep the tempo low to help SG come at it with his Hip Hop roots. Personally my tracks are between 75 and 150 so i'm not to bothered. So we'll keep the samples/loops to those in the Reason soundbank/Orkester. I'll go home for the weekend and by Monday maybe someone could have gotton a start on it. |

Nah it's all good... I spent like 5 mins on the piano loop. I didn't like it anyways! And I agree, we should organize this better and name the devices appropriately. P.S. I can do hip hop too... |
