Question Keyboard help

Hiya,
I have recently installed Reason 3.0 which I have previously used, however I am having trouble getting Reason to find my keyboard. I'm using a midi to usb cable, and Windows XP finds and installs it correctly.
My keyboard is really old and is not on the device list so I select "Other" and then "basic midi keyboard". But when I try to "find the device" by pressing a key on the device, Reason cannot find it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Well you see it might not be the actual keyboard you have to find, like you I use midi to usb, and when I first did it I did the same exact thing you did, except I noticed that you have to find the midi inputs of the cable not the keyboard, the cable manages all that. So for mine it was Usb midi uno or something so look for the name of your cable in the midi input drop down box. Hope that helps in your case, it did in mine.

Thanks SG. It doesn't allow me to drop down the menu though, there is nothing for me to select... I press "find" and then hit some keys on the keyboard but that doesn't work either.
I'm fairly new to Reason so some step by steps would be a great help if anybody has the time.
Thank you.

Well, first things first make sure your cable installed right and your drivers installed right. I mean if it did then shouldn't it's midi outputs/inputs show up in the drop down box. I think you should install again or make sure it works. If that doesn't work, try looking for a universal driver or some other alternative driver for your usb cables, I could be wrong though maybe your cables just work differently.
