Default Absolute pitch? Not a completely Reason-related question, but anyway...

Hello fellow musicians,

my very first posting to this forum is a quite personal one, i guess. It's about re-creating songs, listen to the original versions, and to find out the key. The thing is, whenever I listen to a song, I can, just a few seconds later, whistle it, at the key, the pitch, the speed that it was recorded. But I so epically fail when I try to enter the notes into Reason (or any other tool). Whatever I've tried so far like sampling my own voice for a NN-TX patch, or just my whisteling, it won't work. An a becomes a c, and a 5th becomes a 6th. Weird, but true. Send me a song, let me listen to it, and I could instantly record a version by whistleing the song. But as soon as I set up a rack in Reason, it's gonna... crap.

My latest attempt has been Mike Oldfields "Let there be light", and, as always, I epically failed big time.

Any ideas how to improve my hearing? Thanks a lot!

Carsten
