triggering sound samples with keyboard - what to use

hi!

i'm sure this has been addressed already but couldn't find what i was looking for

if i have a bunch of 2-3 second sound clips (wavs or mp3s or whatever), how do i set it up so that when i play a key on my midi keyboard the sound is played? what module do i use? how do i select which keys play what sounds?
