Default Noob Redrum question

I am new to Reason and have learned how to create drum patterns and then load the pattern in the track. I have created a very basic pattern and loaded it in. So I have in the sequencer a "Pattern Select Lane" and "Lane 1". I decided to add notes in Lane 1 for some variations with the pencil tool ( I find it easier than having to program the variations in the drum machine). So my question is there a way to change the levels/velocities/lengths(all of the features found in the channels of the redrum) of the little orange box drum sounds that I manually added in with the pencil tool? I am very frustrated because I like to add drum sounds in with the pencil tool but I cannot tweak the dynamic etc. of them!!! please help!

or for example if I just program a drum beat from scratch using the pencil tool into the sequencer and say I composed 4 bars. how can I change the dynamics/lengths/ etc. of each bars drum sounds?

Are you talking about individual notes, or the channel as a whole? Notes have only two properties that you can set; the channel has a whole bunch.

Note properties
Length -- select the note with the cursor tool and stretch it.
Velocity -- select the note with the cursor tool and set its velocity in the pane below. The note will change color accordingly (red=loud, white=quiet).

Channel properties:
Mute, Solo, Send 1, Send 2, Pan, Level, Velocity->Level, Length, Decay mode, Pitch, Tone, Velocity->Tone

Click the Track Parameter Automation button, and select the channel parameter you wish to automate. Then use the pencil tool to draw in the curve in the box that will be created for you.
