Default Parameter Automation On Devices and Lanes

Hello,

I was using Kong and I wanted to use my pitch control stick on my Triton to effect the pitch of my snare. It worked but then I created a new lane for other drum parts and the pitch was effected to all other parts I created in new lanes.

How can I make the parameter changes only effect the 1 pad/sound/lane?

Thanks,

Hi there.

Though i don't use reason 5 yet, the nnxt had this exact problem. It was solved by through the following steps.

Each sample loaded into the device has it's own perameters, such as pan, attack decay sustain release, filters etc. each sample also has it's own perameter for pitch bend too, so what you need to do, is select the samples you don't want to bend, and turn the pitch bend steps from 2 to 0.

While i'm not sure if this applies to the kong, it certainly did to the nnxt, so this will only work if the kong has individual perameters for each loaded sample.

It's worth a look.

Yeah, it's a little annoying. The pitch bend is mapped to all pads by default. What you have to do is, click on each of the pads, click "Show Drum and Fx" and then turn the tiny "Pitch Bend Range" knob to zero for all pads except the one you want to control.

Agreed with Neb...although a small oversight, an oversight indeed with the default settings on that.

Hi,

Quick question on this one again. If I go ahead and turn off all pitch on the pads but want to use another pad later in the song. How can I make this work?

Hmm that's a tough one. The Pitch Bend Range knob cannot be automated, though it can be assigned a Remote Override. So in principle you could assign each pad's pitch bend range to a knob or a button on your controller, and adjust as needed -- this would work live, but not in a sequencer. I'll have to think about it.

Yeah, no need to stress, I could always try to use samples to achieve it is really nessasary. I just like the pitch control stick on my keyboard method.

Thanks,

The pitch bend range can be automated. After reading Neb's last response, I was curious about this being I have never tried that before. I did a quick test with a Thor, assigned the pitch bend range to a random knob, hit record and changed it. The automation recorded in the Thor's sequencer track.
