| Is it possible to use a laptop running Reason and a midi controller as some kind of hardware synth during multi-track recording? Can I hook up an usb audio interface to the laptop and connect its audio outputs to the soundcard in my more powerful desktop pc, which I would use as a recording computer? I see that Reason and my M-Audio Axiom61 2nd gen can work together quite great; I can make quite complex patches in Combinator, can control the Combinator's knobs and buttons with the Axiom's 8 endless rotaries with Direct Link and can step from one Combinator device to the next one in the row by pushing one button on the controller (or maybe with a foot switch, but I haven't tried it yet). For these reasons I don't want to switch from Reason to a hardware synth rack which might not work so well. These functions work quite well during live playing but there are problems when I connect Reason to Ableton Live via Rewire. In Rewire mode the knobs and faders on the Axiom starts to control Live’s parameters, so I can’t use them for the functions what I’ve programmed to them in Reason (e.g. to mute some devices and “unmute” others with one button of the Combinator, or to Enable Pattern for a Matrix with another button, etc.) I assume these are possible when I use the laptop running Reason as an instrument, just like a guitar or a mic, sending audio instead of MIDI data, right? If so, is it a better idea to use digital outputs on the laptop’s audio interface to connect it to the soundcard of the recording computer? I’ve heard that the number of digital-to-analog conversions should be kept as low as possible because they can ruin the audio signal. Is it true? Thanks for all the help in advance! |

Please post your solution to other users! Also, do you have the "Sticky keys" issue with your axiom? (Google "sticky keys axiom" if you're unsure what i'm on about"

Not at all, I think it was an issue only on the first gen Axiom.

| Yup, and only a fraction of all Axioms manufactured have this problem. I have an Axiom 61 and its key action is smooth like butter.

Both of my Axioms work great as far as the keys go...actually all away around. I have never heard of sticky keys before... Dose |
