I have asked for an integrated kettle and toaster!!

Seriously though, it is a big step up from my old laptop (2gh single core amd with 512 mb memory), so fingers crossed this machine will suit me well for years to come!

What rig are you running Dose?

Sweet setup!

Not like my old craptastic computer... Wish I could build a mini-studio, but money is needed elsewhere unfortunatly.

I'm running a 4 gighz dual core processor, still running XP (if it isn't broke, don't fix it, lol). I have 8 GB of RAM. I am running a ASUS Xonar sound card....other than that, it is all basic stuff really. Instead of investing in a better computer or upgrades...I chose to invest in more of the hardware department. The need for updating my computer is catching up to me though.

Yeah,

My setup should last me a while. The main reason I wanted to post is so other users could get a good idea of a pretty top end machine. As I've had this PC built by audio specialists in the UK DAW market - I know everything is compatable and stable, plus they do all the windows tweaks for audio based applications!

I also know they have good rep - they've been reviewd several times in Music Tech and SOS magazines (the UK's top Mags for music production) and basically they only have good things to say.

Still waiting on delivery though, bus being that they build the system from scratch AND install all the software and all hardware drivers, then go into all the programs and configure them for the machine, i'm not surprised to see it taking a week or two.

I'll be posting my thoughts on it in this thread at a later date.

Have you been using the Saffire before or is that brand new as well? Reason I am asking is that I have been thinking of buying one, so any "reviews" are appreciated!

It's brand new,

But believe me, I am totaly anal about research and I can assure you that for the price it was the best choice - especially as focusrite are renowned for good pre-amps (especially for that price - hou'd have to spend hundreds more to get better ones).

With also solid drivers and flexible routing, and also capable of 5.1 output on balanced jacks.

There's also a cheaper Saffire pro 24.

But i looked at everything around the price, read all reviews on competitors and that saffire, and the pro 40 came out well on top.

FYI my previous was an m-audio fw1814, and i took some persuading moving away from m-audio, but the focusrite is just.... better at everything. Better pre-amps, lower latency, more inputs and outputs.

And if you just dont care about the ins and outs, go for the pro 24 or pro 14.

Garbage in garbage out i say....

Just because the machine is top spec, doesn't mean my music will sound any better (ok it WILL but only because i was heavily restricted before)... I will finally be able to write exactly what I want without my computer's CPU meter topping 100% before i've actually finished adding things i need to in my tracks!!

I'm STILL waiting for it to be built/delivered. I had a call from the engineers last week saying the build is going exceptionally well and is shaping up nicely.

Could expect it 1st August..... fingers crossed!
