| It's my first post here and I am completely new to reason. I bought reason 5 one week ago and I love it. I use an MPK25 and a Macbook. But now I have a problem which I don't know to solve and don't understand why I have that problem. When I open redrum for example, everything works fine. But then I open a synthesizer and I can't get no more sound. Everything gone. Even with computer keyboard or newstart of mac. Then I open a new window, put a sampler for example and something else, sound will be gone again. I really don't know a lot about MIDI and all that stuff Your help is appreciated |

Hi there sk83510, A few things to check, starting with the basics first - I don't mean to patronise you, but It's better to cover the basics first, then look deeper into the problem when we know all the basics are covered. I am assuming at this point that your first instrument is connected to a mixer, and not directly to the hardware interface? Without a mixer, you can only have one insturment playing! If not, remove your first and second instrument. Click on the hardware interface, and create a 14:2 mixer. Then click once on this and create your first instument, load your patch and check the sound works ok. If it does, go ahead and add your second instrument and add the patch you desire, and you should find that it works perfectly and your problem could already be solved! If you had already created a mixer and added your first instrument (which has sound), then added a second and have no sound, try the following: Make sure that no channels on your mixer are SOLO'd or MUTED. This could prevent you from hearing any sound. Check also that your second instrument has been connected to the mixer correctly; to do this, press the TAB key - this switches the view to the rear of your equipment, where you can see your audio path in the form of cables - make sure your second instrument's oputput is connected to the mixer's second channel input. If this is all ok, make sure you have loaded a patch properly in your second instrument. You could try loading a different patch, and try recording some notes in the sequencer, and play it back. If all this fails, then please come back to us and we will try and help, but please tel us: 1) Are you using a MIDI keyboard to play sounds in reason. 2) When you try and play your instument, do the level meters light up in the mixer channel and master channel? 3) Does the "Note on" light appear on your instrument when you play a note? 4) Anything else you feel like sharing so we can help you. Hope this helps.

Glad we could help, however...what exactly was the solution? The reason I ask is to help others that might encounter this problem. Dose |

I think it was probably not adding a mixer...

Lemniscate is correct =) I didn't add a mixer because I set my reason to open with an "empty file". And I didn't get that at the beginning... |
