| Complete newbie here - well in fact I'm writing this on behalf of my 10 year old son. My son's been playing keyboard and has really got into it, and I want to encourage this even so he can connect to the PC and start recording/ playing back/ building up tracks and scores etc.. (ok I admit it, when I was his age I wanted to do it, but none of this cool stuff was about at the time !) I've heard about Reason, but it looks a bit complicated to get started with - I'm going to download the demo version anyway so he/we can have a play about with anyway. It's also a wee bit expensive for a beginner. So my question is, is there a cut-down version of this for say £30-40 ? If not, what alternative software would you recommend ( I know this is a Reason software forum btw !! So prepared to get grief for asking about alternative recommendations !) Thanks Neil |

There really aren't any cut down versions that I've heard of. It's still pretty cheap considering what it does, and how far you can take it. I think Reason is a great choice, because it's fairly easy to pick up, and has few limits. If you just can't swing it, get him into Fruity Loops. There are tons of reason tutorials available. |
