Default Connect Yamaha keyboard to Reason

Hey guys, I've been trying to do this for hours and I've had no luck at all.

Here's the situation, I have a Yamaha DGX-300, and I have a Midi-USB cable. I've connected it directly to my computer and my computer seems to recognize it. But how do I get it to work with Reason? Are there some settings that need tweaking there? Please any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Open up Reason > Edit > Preferences > "Choose from dropdown-menu : Keyboards and Control surfaces" > "Press Add" > Choose from dropdown-menu : "Other" > Right underneath the frirst dropdown- menu choose : "Midi Keyboard ( No controls) " ...

Then press "Find" , and press a key on your Yamaha ... , this will let Reason find the right midi-channel for it ...

Then press OK ...

It should be working right now ...

Greetzzzzzzzzzzz and good luck !

I'm stuck on the step where I click "Find". After I click "Find", I tried pressing the keys on my Yamaha DGX300, but nothing happens. Any idea why? Maybe I have the wrong driver or something? Also, I plug the midi In into the midi Out and vice versa right? Thanks for helping!

Got another question about the cable you got ...

In case you got the UX16 midi-usb cable , you need to install drivers for it ...

Can be found overhere :

http://www.yamahasynth.com/downloads...aces/ux16/all/

I do hope it will solve it for you ...

Greetz and good luck !

Hey SCEZ, I have something like the UX16, it's a cheaper version I bought on Ebay. I tried installing the UX16 driver but it doesn't work. It says "Error 25001. No Device is connected". So I don't know what's wrong. When I first connected the device Windows helped me install a driver for it and it says the hardware is working properly. Do I have to change any settings in Reason, something to do with Hosts? Thanks for helping.

Well , if it isnt the UX16 , the drivers wont work indeed ...

You should search the drivers for it then ...

Where would I find it? The Midi-USB cable I have doesn't really have a brand name. Plus on the description page on Ebay it says that it comes with a built-in driver.

Unfortunately, I can't post the link to it yet because I don't have enough posts. But if you go to Ebay and search "usb midi interface" you'll see it. It's the black one with a treble clef in the middle.

If it is a driver problem, please tell me what to look for because I have no idea. Thanks

Well , i took a look on E-Bay ... , seen the cable you are talking about ... you were right about the fact it doesnt need drivers , and to be honest , i don't really have a clue so far ... due to the fact i never worked with such cables ... , but i guess it has to be something simple ... , Does these led's light up like hows its been described on E Bay ? ( LED's indicate power on, MIDI in signal and MIDI out signal. ) , if they aren't , then something aint right .... , wigle the cables a bit on the back of the keyboard , cos i know that these MIDI plugs loose contact easy ... ( Had my old keyboard midiplug tightly taped )
If nothing on the above worked , try switching the MIDI-in and MIDI-out .... perhaps you mistaked ? , or me ...
Well , ...
Im empty with possibily's now ... , hope anyone else got some bright idea's for you ?

Hey, only the midi-in LED light is on. So I'm assuming there is something wrong with the midi-out? Any ideas on how to fix the midi-out? Thanks
