Default sound problem

Hello,

I try to make music with Reason 4. So I tried to make a wobble base but I heard that everthing is quieter if there is a beat. So if I make a long bassline, the bassline is sometimes quiet and then suddenly loud. How can I fix it?

Thank you,

Greets,
Tim

- Do you have a mastering suite inside the song?

- Do you play your drums really loud?

D- o you by any chance only have this problem when the beat plays, but when the beat stops, the volume of the wobble bass increases?

If you have answered yes on all questions in return, then you are having the 0db level issue

Try bypassing the mastering suite (its located at the left of the mastering suite). Check if you see a audio clip sign turn red (located at the bottom of the rack). If that thing turns on (which I am sure it will light up like a Christmas tree). You probably need to adjust the levels of the mix to solve the issue.

And when your done, you can get the mastering suite back in there.

Hopes this sorts out your issue.

hi,

First of all, thanks for the reply.
Second, my answer is yes to all the questions.
Third, I can't find that thing of the mastering suite. Maybe you can post a picture? Or must I post a picture?

Thanks,

Greets,
Tim

you can find the bypass/On/Off setting of the mastering suite at the left upper corner of the mastering suite (it is a basic switch which you can find on every device).

I can't upload pictures atm since I am at work. If you haven't found it yet, i'll post one when I get home.

You mean the red or the blue arrow?

But if I switch them on, it isn't fixed, and the sound is very different then if i put them off.

The red one, in its current state it is set on Bypass (which means that the Mastering suite isn't doing anything). In this stage you are able to focus on the audio clip sign at the bottom of the rack.

The problem with the mastering suite (which is also kind of a gift at the same time) is that it uses a maximizer with softclip + compression. Every sound that is often too loud will be dropped of (depending on the amount of compression / soft clip).

Since there is a noticable problem with the drop off effect, you are now able to pint point exactly which thing is playing too loud (just go through the solo of each track of the mixer most often does the trick pretty quicly).

When the audio out clip sign at the bottom turns red, you know there is something wrong with that channel / part of the arrangement etc.

When all the levels are optimized so that the audio clip sign does not turn red anymore, you are able to put the mastering suite back in to play (set the same switch back to "on" that should do the trick).

While tweaking the song without the mastering suite, it may sound a bit dull on the output levels (since it is an unmastered track). But when tweaked like this, and putting the mastering suite into play you will notice you can push the levels inside the mastering suite way louder then you could normally do, without having the problem of certain sounds to drop in volume.

reduce the volumes of the tracks which causes audio out clipping. That is what you need to do.
