| I have an old midismart keyboard going through an EMU 404 and into reason. I can create one instrument and play it no problem but when I add a second there is no sound. It shows that midi information is being received but nothing comes out. If I delete the first the second still doesn't sound. Previously recorded songs all work fine on all tracks. It was working fine before but I've re-installed everything with the same settings and setup (pretty sure) so maybe this could be the source of the problem. Thanks a lot for any help. |

In the arrange area, click on the thumbnail of the device. The device with the red border around it is the one that is currently selected for the keyboard. I drew red arrows on the screenshot showing where to click. Chances are your Master Keyboard Input is set to Separated. Change it back to Standard. What Standard does is it automatically changes the master keyboard to point to a track whenever you select a track. Once again, try clicking on the thumbnail, the little tiny picture of the rack device, the spot where the red arrows point. When you press keys on your keyboard you should see the thumbnail change showing that MIDI data is being received. |

Thanks for your replies. rycar - I know how to select different instruments and I can see the green level indicator on each that says it is receiving midi information....there is just no sound. My sound card indicates midi info being received and so does reason - the "NOTE ON" LED lights up. Any other ideas? |

Ok, Ok! So I didn't have a mixer! I changed my default to a blank rack. |
