im no expert . self taught ( if taught is the word ) what about your sound card ? do ye have one .? then the volume on yor pc could be muted . thats the little speaker icon on the extreme bottom right hand corner. go to preferences in the edit menu too , sound and audio menu in your control panel also. are ye using earphones or speakers . the speakers MUST be " active " rather than passive . actives have an inbuilt amp ...passive speakers wont work unless you have your own amp . but try earphones first . hope that might help . what i said is true , but i dont know if it will solve what problem ye have , but they are the first things id do . thanks kensho, but I don't think it's an issue with my sound card/headphones. I can hear everything I run in ProTools just fine, but when I open Reason and try to audition Redrum samples, for example, everything works except the sound. The light on the play button comes on. If I Run a Redrum pattern I can see the lights being triggered across the step sequencer and the cursor moves across the screen, but no sound. It's easily the most frustrating thing ever. To answer your question about setup, usually I use headphones for recording and speakers for mixing. I have my speakers hooked up through an external receiver for amplification. |
