Default Total noob question, forgive me!

Hey everyone,

I have been borrowing a friend's MIDI keyboard since I got Reason 4 but now he's taken it back and trying to use virtual keyboards is getting annoying.
My funds are severely limited at the moment so buying a new MIDI keyboard is out of the question.
I have an old Casio HT-700 with line out ports as well as MIDI in and out. Can I get some kind of adapter to use this with my iMac? And if so, would it even be compatible with Reason? Please forgive the naiveté of this question if the answer seems obvious. I'm reasonably technically savvy, I just don't have much experience with music hardware.

Thanks!

In most cases ( If there's a unknown keyboard attached ) , you can choose for: "keyboard w/o controllers" in the "add device list" ... , so you can play almost any kind of keyboard with midi-out ... (midi in aint important , cos Reason doesnt send back anything ... besides sound .. lol)

And if you're IMac has a midi-in , then its just a piece of cake 2 do ... (am on a XP machine , here its just a matter of plug in , choose keyboard w/o controller , and go ...) , otherwise you have to buy a midi to usb adapter ...

Hope this will do the job for you ...

Greetzzzzzz

Learn to sequence without the use of a controller. It's damn useful, and you can make way cooler parts. There are so many cool things you can do that you cannot play by hand. It's a skill you learn in time, but well worth it.

Thats a fact ... , due to the fact a human only has 10 fingers ...

But with some keys you can hear what you play ... , and more usefull when jamming ...

And what about live performances ? ... dont see me standing there with me pencil-tool .. hehe

I play live sessions with people. We pick a tempo and a key. I route reason though ableton live. It works great. I draw in my performances and run them.

You just practice and get really good over time.
