Default Locking MIDI keyboard channels to devices

Hope someone can help...

Using Reason 4 and an EMU XBoard 49, I'd like to lock each MIDI input channel to a specific device in my rack, so I can switch between synths on the fly. In the Advanced MIDI Device, I can do exactly that, BUT I *also* have focus on whatever instrument is selected in the sequencer window, so I get two notes simultaneously.

The only way I seem to be able to get around it to make sure I have the mixer or hardware device selected in the sequencer window; I'd rather not have to worry about that if possible...

Is there a way of preventing this, please?
